Based in East Anglia, I took up photography in 2008, after buying a Nikon D40X camera. I then booked onto a landscape photography course to learn how to use the camera to it’s full potential, and have not looked back since. I love spending time out in the British countryside and making use of grand vistas and also the smaller image.
Despite using digital equipment, I try to get the image right out in the field and make full use of the Lee filter system. I try to spend a minimum amount of time in digital processing, but of course without sacrificing the final image. I have returned annually to The Digital Dawn, on the advanced workshops, where the emphasis is on spending time out with the camera, but have also recently diversified into some studio portraiture. I have sold images to local private collectors, had a series of calendars published and have created my own calendars and photobooks.
I have also recently completed a Diploma of Photography via e-learning, covering many genres of photography, techniques and digital processing. I now have portable studio lights and backgrounds, and can provide a mobile service.
I am the current shirt sponsor of Mellis Cricket Club and Scole United Veterans FC.
I now shoot with a Nikon D810 and also print my own images at home, retaining full colour control. For my landscape and macro images I print on Hahnemuhle Photo Rag, up to A3 size, and using Epson Ultrachrome inks. I use a local framing service, Orchard Frames of Diss, as they provide top quality frames and glass.
Studio sessions can be requested via the contact page, each session lasts 1 hour and is charged at £45.
